Jeb Defends George W. — And Slams Trump For Foreign Policy ‘Bluster’

Jeb Bush is going into friendly territory to mount a rebuttal against Donald Trump, writing a guest post for National Review that responds to Trump’s recent pummeling of former President George W. Bush.

“In the latest episode of the reality show that is Donald Trump’s campaign, he has blamed my brother for the 9/11 terrorist attacks on our nation,” Jeb writes. “That Trump echoes the attacks of Michael Moore and the fringe Left against my brother is yet another example of his dangerous views on national-security issues.”

Jeb then goes on to challenge Trump’s foreign policy positions on multiple fronts — ranging from his past praise for Hillary Clinton, his support for allying with Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad, and his opposition to the war in Afghanistan — to make the overall point that Trump has no idea about foreign policy at all. Bush continued:

Let’s be clear: Donald Trump simply doesn’t know what he’s talking about. And his bluster overcompensates for a shocking lack of knowledge on the complex national-security challenges that will confront the next president of the United States.

Question: Was there anyone else who ran for president, and might have used bluster in order to compensate for his shocking lack of knowledge on national security?

Maybe this is an area of inquiry into which Jeb might not want to venture.
